I graduated from the university just 2 years ago. When I was a student, I was very selective in classes I attended. In our system of education all subjects are obligatory and you can’t choose a teacher. But the attendance of many courses was not required so I was attending the classes of the people I liked and showed up to the exams of the rest. I’ve always been aware of my selectiveness; I knew that if I don’t like the person it didn’t mean that s/he was a bad teacher. It’s all about personalities and preferences.
I’ve always had favorite teachers. They could be different: strict or lenient, with a sense of humor or serious, but they were always motivating. I’ve never expected them to come and put a piece of knowledge in my head, but I was always expecting them to show me the ways of getting the knowledge myself. Good teachers challenged my point of view and opened new horizons.
Now I’m a teacher myself and it made me understand that a teacher is just a part of the success. Student’s attitude plays a great role in the class’s success. I have many groups and even when I teach the same book, use the same jokes and anecdotes, my classes are different. They can be interesting and boring, useless and slow, fruitful and fast.
I think that higher education – this is a personal choice and responsibility. The Rector of my university was right when in his speech to us, freshmen, he said: “When you enter university, you have the opportunity to get 100% of knowledge, but a teacher can give you only 10% of it. The rest 90% depend on you. It’s up to you to decide what you get in the end.”

In the university the bases for our professional formation are obtained and thanks to the lessons of the professors we can get to visualize as we will move in the real world, although often we were with professors who really do not get to show the indications to us of that real world, because they make us see that the professional formation is in the four walls of a classroom, the true professor is that one that by means of its lessons and advice creates the restlessness to us to leave and to know as the businesses move, the market and generally all that with our specific professional activity and to begin we ourself to generate knowledge and companies.
Since the begging of high school in most of the schools they are constantly talking about what university looks like, many times they are telling us that it will be a different life in many ways, not only because there would not be a teacher always telling you what you are supposed to do, but that also things will get harden because teachers are not so in contact with you. I think that this two things can be true but not in all the ways, they are right in telling us that we have to be responsible because anyone will be next to you all the time but that is part of growing up and life will be that way for the rest of your life since you get out of school, what I don't agree is that teachers are not in contact with you, well maybe not in my case, I think that my teachers are very kind, they always have contact with students and they always offer thereselfs to go and talk with them if you need something, and that is totaly true, every time I had need them they will always be there willing to help each one of us.
I'm totally agree with you guys...I think that at least we have the luck of choose our own teachers...so we ca ask for some references and realize which teacher explain the best and which one can give us tons of knowledge and teach us of the best way so we can follow him...we can't deal with teachers who believe that we born with all the knoledge and the don't wan explain almost nothing.
Well... all you have said is right, I think that what the Rector of that university said is totaly true,I mean, teachers can give us the knowledge that we need, but how you can use it depends on us and our behavior. That's why there are good students and bad students, if all of us receive the same clases and there are those differences, then is in us and our desires of progress. There won't be anybody telling us what to do like we were in high school everything depends on us!!!

I agree with the rector said in his speech, can an institution of higher education have the best teachers in the world, but if students have no interest in acquiring the knowledge they give them, do not have any effect, many thought that the same happens in the case reverse but it is not, the situation may illustrated in which students are good teachers and not much in this case, despite the fact that students in these
teachers many of these students have desires to learn, no matter what the professor.
good teachers and good students, everything is relative, because what is good for one person may not be for other .the percentages of 10% to teacher and 90% to students is very true to assume that this is the UNIVERSITY.
In the end I think it depends on us students...

Is true that about the teacher put the 10% and the students the 90%. But the teachers have the key of change the way to think of the students. That only can happen if the teachers use all their experience to give us and know how give. Because in my case i have had different kind of teacher and i never forget those teachers that tech me the important of my career and show me all the thing that i can do if i workhard, and if i follow what i want. Those kind of teachers are for me the good ones.
I agree with all that you have said, its very important the teacher's knowledge becouse they teach and give to us their experience, but its more important the things that we can do and the capacity of learn. If we have a good teacher we can learn but if we have a bad teacher we can learn too but it will be more difficult, becouse we can learn alone study with the information of the books.
Many Philosophers say nobady can teach to someone only can help for find the knowledge within himself.
I agree with everything that they have said. But I think the concept of good or bad teacher, is in each ones. I myself have had some concepts for another people about some teachers who are in college, and I realized that everything depends on each person. I agree with the idea that the teacher is a guide that shows us a way and we decides cross it or not, this means is that the student has to do much in this process is that these are the 90% and 10% teachers, but I think that as an interactive process should be like a 50 50
yeap...you're totally right...if a teacher it's bad o good depends of the point of view of the student...also of the interest that tha student put of each class...if you're not intersted...the class seems like it last for ever...but if you feel intersted it would be a great experience and you will adquire a lot of knowledge.
Since i beging the university, i have seen some cases like Irina show us in the article, there are teachers who makes the calss interesting and you feel that you aren't losing the time and you are learning too much. But there teachers who don't put all his knowledge in class and that makes that we don't feel the class interesting. That's when we have to put everything on our part to learn.
Then there is where we can differentiate between whether a teacher is good or bad. But also we have to differentiate that the teacher might seem to us good person or not, for it also affects our learning process. For example I have had several teachers that come to me very well and those are classes that I think are interesting also are good teaching, but there are others that I fell ill but are good teaching, which can differentiate is the method of teaching. But the better of all this is that i know that I've learned a lot and i know what i will be working in a good company or in my own company, applying my knowledge.
also i can add that in everywhere, all teachers are not perfect, we can find a variety of people that sometimes can be a good person or not, so in this comment we can find a good reason about what happen in the article.
I consider that a good teacher is someone who really cares for teaching and not wanting to put bad grades, is also someone very professional in what he does, it takes into account prior knowledge of students and gives you the opportunity to build meanings and not just choosing or acquiring knowledge, because information alone is nothing but it`s more valuable when it is given meaning and direction to serve for life.
On the other hand a good estudianes is an active and criticizes person , which investigates and cares about their own development. is a good student who gives depth to the ocean of knowledge that gives you the university.
I agree with all the things that everyone had said. It's not always our fault that we start talking and bothering in class, sometimes it might be because there is always the student that doesn't know what is doing in the class and is coming just because his parents tell him, but many times we can see the case that students are very interested but if we don't see that the teacher feels the same way be get bored, don't show interest in the class and we star to bother.
In my opinion, I believe that all teaching and learning process involves the teacher and student.
Teachers is committed to its responsibility not only transmit knowledge but to motivate their students to generate new knowledge, there has to be fully identified with its mission, namely seize this great opportunity given to target, communicate with fellow who trust in his teachings, place their confidence that their knowledge will be proactive incentives to keep alive the flame of wisdom.
For me a good teacher is the one responsible for teaching your subject, which respects his students, loves his job, you have to consider more professional, to transmit to his students, teaches not only knowledge but experience.
As a student, friend and companion of many teachers and students, I think the art of teaching is delivered as a human being, be genuine and consistent.
As a future teacher, I believe that one day I will be ever be able to give what we do not have, nor can we teach what we do not know, the students know and can not be fooled.
As I reported to be Unn good teacher means being aware that there will always be different views to himself, which often will not agree but there must be respect and wants to hear.
I think that for the success of a good student depends on the educational processes of the teacher, this is the one who is responsible for the development of the potentials in order to train students critical, reflective and are able to solve problems.
Good students are persons interested in the topic to developed. A good student will not have to like everything that just have to enjoy what you like. For me a good student is day to day learning, researching and suggesting new ideas for solving a problem.
A bad teacher does not exist for me, I knew a several teachers in the univesity, each one with differents learning methodologies and each of which has left me a lesson.
at this time I'm in the final of my career, the last semester, which I have carried me throughout the race to think that in life there are many things without having to like it or not there is to learn to live with them the best, always someone or advantage for the moral life will stop.
For this i think a little bit late but I think that I have not seen the bulls on the sidelines, that I have not had or would have the opportunity to be a teacher, one must try to accept that the only thing that influences during the university is ours knowledge , And much more are simply additions of which more than once is better not to be enfatice.
I'm agree with the opinion of the teacher because they are our guides on the learning process, but we also have to investigate and find answers to our own questions; this process and class events not only depends on the teachers or the students, it also depends in how you manage the content; depends on the environment and the role played by the family, in other words, the support and monitoring by parents. This process also involves the communication and as is mentioned earlier the interest of the student, because is her/his the one who decide which Knowledge ignore, learn, discard or store in memory.
i think that being a good teacher is not only to have a lot of knowlwdge it is also to have the hability to explain in an essay way the contents of the class, a good teacher is someone who wants to help and who wants you to learn not the one who wants to reprove you; and a good students is not someone who don't study and wants everything essay,s/he has to make and effort and study, it has to compromise her/his self, because the benefits are not for the teacher are for him or her, this learning process will provide them the tool to be someone in there lives.
To teach it´s not an easy work, because to try to give knowledge to another people when you don´t know what are the expectation that the students have to the subject, it’s a lottery. But I always think that we have to accept what the university gives to us, because something interesting could have to be in this process.
In whatever point to teach it´s not an easy work, more when you are teaching a group of exiting young people.
I really agree with Maria cecilia, it depends of our responsability, treachers just help us to improve our skills. They are not the responsable of the educatioon, we are the respnsable.
We need to be concience about how to leran things.
In my experience as student,i been knew a lot of teachers that pretendes to give all the knowledge. For me that actitud its too bad because that teachers dont help students ti improve theirselve to be better
